Healthy snacks for the office [vegetarian edition]

We all recognize how hard it can be to eat healthy at work. So in this post I’ve put together what we all want to know: plain and simple snacks I usually take to work that are good enough to keep us far from sugar and extra fat we don’t need.

Even though I’m vegetarian I have a variety of foods to choose from as you can see below:

Choose seasonal fruits that are easy to carry in your bag. My favorite: mango, banana, strawberries, apples and berries.

You can always keep a box in the cupboard with dried fruits such as dried mangoes, prunes, cherries, figs and apricots. I just love eating a handful of them in the morning to keep me energetic and concentrated.

Another choice is to prepare a simple avocado sandwich with tahini paste and multigrain bread. Say no more! 🙂

Low carb nuts like macadamias, pistachios, almonds, walnuts and cashews are packed with heart-healthy fats, protein, vitamins, and minerals proving us that when it comes to food, size doesn’t really matter. Choose raw or dry roasted without added salt to avoid extra fat and calories. Balance here is the key!

Need potassium and fibre? Don’t be lazy! Boil or just pack your favorite veggies such as broccoli, carrot and cauliflower together with a side dip of Hummus. Trust me it’s a fresh combination that will fill you up very fast. Edamame goes well with boiled eggs if you need more protein!

If it ain’t Corny, it will definitely be Rocky Rice:) Thank God I have my mother and Stella, my colleague who gave me these bars to try. When it’s afternoon and you’re feeling sleepy this is the best choice to wake you up! My favorite is Corny [Banana flavor] and Rocky Rice Rice Cake [Strawberry flavour]. But you can always be creative at home and make yours with natural ingredients.

Try the following combinations and you can thank me later:

  1. Cottage cheese with salad on top (cucumber and sweet red pepper), sprinkled with a dose of pepper, lemon juice and olive oil.
  2. Cottage Cheese with strawberries on top, sprinkled with a dose of cinnamon.
  3. Brie pieces or Mozzarella cheese with cherry tomatoes and cucumber sticks aside.

Hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did!
